Our Story
Our back story is more than 20 years old; but we'll save those story details for another time. Way back in 2018, two friends had serious conversations about inclusivity, diversity and work skills gap, but sometimes things can't happen until the right moment. So here we are today BLCKSTR creator Annie Little, with Hair & Makeup Designer Nic Collins, have crafted specialised training to bridge gaps in your expertise. Join us on this journey towards a more hands-on and inclusive industry standards.

Annie Little
Specialising in productions with diverse casts, blending creativity with cultural storytelling. A ScreenSkills Leader of Tomorrow, Annie has worked on Small Axe, Queen Charlotte and others, while championing inclusivity and textured hairstyling through the BLCKSTR programme.
Hair Specialist
Calma Ritchie-Polack
An award-winning hairdresser specialises in styling all hair types and sharing her expertise as an educator. Her credits include MOOD, Vera, and Tyler Perry's Six Triple Eight, alongside a British Hairdresser Award for Afro Hairstyling. Calma leads our talks on textured hairstyling, product knowledge, and tool selection.
Hair & Makeup Designer
Nic Collins
A three-time Emmy winner and BAFTA-nominated Hair and Makeup Designer, celebrated for her period work on Victoria, Downton Abbey, and Queen Charlotte. With 20+ years of experience, she champions diversity in hair and makeup and mentors new talent. Nic leads our talks on makeup, wigs, and crewing.
